Mary Mergener
Mary Ellen Mergener, 43, Greenbriar Drive, died Friday, April 14, 1989, in St. Mary’s Medical Center. She was born in Duluth and was a 1963 graduate of Denfeld High School. She receiver her BS and Masters degrees in education from the University of Minnesota – Duluth. Since 1968, she taught history at Proctor High School and Junior High, and was Senior High choir director for the past three years. She also worked at J.C. Penneys for several years. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Proctor Educator’s Association, Minnesota Educator’s Association, National Educator’s Association, Minnesota Music Educator’s Association. She also worked with Welcome Wagon and was its district representative in 1973. She conducteds several church choirs and was most recently choir director at Woodland United Methodist Church. She is survived by a cousin, Larry Mergener of Cottage Grove, Minn. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. with vesper services at 7 p.m., Monday in Bell Brothers Chapel. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in Westminster Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Oneota Cemetery.
