Tom Cieluch       Tom R. Cieluch, Sr., 58, of Detroit Lakes, Minn. died Wednesday, June 16 at his home in Detroit Lakes. Tom Ray Cieluch, Sr. was born Dec. 28, 1945 in Duluth, Minn. to Wallace and Angeline Cieluch. He grew up in Duluth and graduated from Denfield High School there in 1963. Following high school he entered the United States Marine Corp where he was a member of the Marine Force Recon in Vietnam for two tours of duty. Following the service he attended the Minnesota State Patrol Training Academy, graduating in 1969 number one in his class. He accepted his first assignment in Hibbing, Minn. and attended the Hibbing Community College while working there. Tom spent 31 years in service to the State of Minnesota in Grand Rapids, Mankato and was Station Sergeant in Hinckley, Minn. He served as Mayor of Hinckley for two terms. He became the Station Sergeant in Detroit Lakes and was assigned to Governors' Carlson and Ventura's security details, retiring in 2000 to Detroit Lakes. Tom was a member of the Detroit Lakes American Legion; its Zingers Squadron, and the Detroit Lakes VFW. He enjoyed sports, especially baseball and golfing. He loved his children and he liked his 'toys', in particular his Harley-Davidson. His grandparents preceded him in death. Tom is survived by three daughters, Kerry Chaffey and her husband Patrick of Duluth, Sunny Cieluch of Flagstaff, Ariz., Kailey Cieluch of Frazee, Minn.; three sons, Brian of Northfield, Minn., Tom, Jr. and Tim of Frazee; his parents Wallace and Angie Cieluch of Duluth; one sister, Marge Stenstrom and her husband Steve of Duluth; four grandchildren and one soon to be born. SERVICE:1 p.m. Saturday, June 19 at the Christian Fellowship Church in Detroit Lakes with Pastor Keith Barberg officiating. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Friday, June 18 at the David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment is in the Minnesota State Veteran's Cemetery at Camp Ripley, Minn. The David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes is serving the family.
