Mary Windus Mary Lou (Windy) Gardepy, 58, of Peabody Lane, died Tuesday Nov. 18, 2003, in St. Mary's Hospice. She was born Nov. 3, 1945, to Harry and Rose Windus in Duluth, Minn. and had been a resident her entire life. She graduated from Denfeld High School in 1963 and started work for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. as a long distance operator and eventually became a secretary with them. She then went to work for Minnesota Power as a secretary and at the present time was an administrative coordinator in the call center. She married Dennis Gardepy, her high school sweetheart, on Oct 17, 1964, here in Duluth. She was a member of Lester Park United Methodist Church, was active in the Relay for Life cancer walk and the United Way campaign. She enjoyed being outdoors hunting, snowmobiling and going on long motorcycle trips. She loved gardening and feeding and watching the birds. She also loved watching sunrises on Brighton Beach and the northern lights on the Riley Road. 'Nana' was well known for putting on elaborate teaparties.
Windy is preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband Dennis, son Joseph (Sarah) of Duluth; daughter Debra (Craig) Carlson and their children, Jessica and Kyle of Duluth; brother Theodore Sr. (Evelyn) Windus of Duluth; sister Corrine (James) Howard of Eau Claire, Wisconsin and numerous nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: 5 to 8 with wake prayers 7 p.m. Friday in the Dougherty Funeral Home. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Lester Park United Methodist Church 5401 E. Superior St. Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery. Memorials to the family. Arrangements by the Dougherty Funeral Home 600 E 2nd St.
