Dr. Norman E. Nordgren DDS, 73, of Duluth, passed away from cancer, February 3, 2019.
He was born August 8, 1945 in Duluth to Edwin and Hazel Nordgren. He grew up in Duluth, graduating from Denfeld and attending UMD partime and working for US Steel.
He was drafted into the Army in 1966, serving two years in Germany before returning home where he met and married JoAnn Miller.
In his early years, Norm enjoyed hunting, fishing with the guys, and riding his motorcycle. Flying was also a passion. Norm earned his private and commercial license.
Norm returned to UMD and went to Dental School, graduating in 1980. He practiced in West Duluth for 26 years.
In his later years, Norm enjoyed golfing and playing cards with friends. He was no stranger to Black Bear Casino.
Norm was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Maxine Ziegler; and half-brother, Timothy.
He is survived by his partner and wife of 50 years, JoAnn; sons, Brad (Kay) and Brian; grandkids, Riley, Tyler, and Brittney; sister, Janice Wallin; and five nephews and one niece.
The family would like to thank all the Drs. and Nursing staff at Essentia Health, along with the wonderful staff at Solvay Hospice House.
Visitation: 2-3 p.m. followed by the Memorial Service at 3 p.m., Friday, February 8, at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Ave, Duluth.
Celebration of Norm's Life will continue at 4 p.m., Friday, February 8, at Bergey's Bar, 2232 W Superior St.
