John Edward Peyton, 80, went home to be with Jesus on February 5, 2025, at the Solvay Hospice House in Duluth, Minnesota.

He was born October 20, 1944, in Duluth to Newton and Cecile Peyton.  He graduated from Denfeld High School in 1963 and spent his entire adult career at Pioneer National Bank which was started by his grandfather in 1912.

John was very active in the Duluth community, belonging to many civic organizations and serving on several boards of directors.

His strong Christian faith grew over many years at several churches including First United Methodist, Fond du Lac Community, New Life Covenant, Community Bible, and most recently The Landing.  He enjoyed rich fellowship with his Christian brothers and sisters.

Since 2005, he and Nancy have spent summers at his beloved Caribou Lake on property that his grandparents owned.  Winters were spent in Benson, Arizona.

For the last seven weeks of his life, John received loving care from the wonderful, amazing staff at the Solvay Hospice House.  He connected with each person and was so grateful for them all, and he made an impact on their lives as well.

John was preceded in death by his parents, his son John Michael, and siblings Alice and Jerry.  He’s survived by his wife of 46 years, Nancy; daughter Jennifer, daughter Kelly and her husband John Reando; grandsons Chris Robinson, Allen Robinson and his wife Meying Taing; siblings Ann and her husband Jim Mosack, Doug and his wife Lore, Pat and her husband Frank Foley, and Betty and her husband Craig Scherfenberg; extended family members and many friends who were like family.

A celebration of life gathering will be held on May 10, 2025, at The Landing in Proctor.

Memorial donations may be made to Solvay Hospice House, c/o Miller-Dwan Foundation, 225 W Superior Street, Suite 110, Duluth MN 55802 or The Landing (Endless Joy Campaign), 9302 W Skyline Parkway, Duluth MN 55810
